Dead Oak, a few days, lots of targets and treasure.....

Ok... So I have some of the pictures edited... Holy moly... 2nd day and my butt is beat.
I still don't have day two's pictures done yet.
So... Dead oak over house, walls, patio, arbor, driveway, service.... Multi level yard.
One decent 3' gate to get material out of.
Mini won't go through it due to a 90 degree turn at the gate.. Not happening.
Brought dolly to move bigger wood.
Brought plywood to toss limbs etc onto on the driveway below a lower section of fence where Rob would chip the brush and stack firewood.
Fodder....


Concrete, cables, lighting and decor Oh my! And the metal... Lord.. We are still finding metal... I should have brought a metal detector...

I mean I am seriously wondering if they did not just have some mortar left over from the wall and filled all the holes We used a drill to see if we could find places between the crete to cut. It's all marked out, so we'll see how we do day 3

Getting to work... Went spur-less, plenty of scaffolding. Also wanted to closely inspect every tie in and rigging point... Plenty of hollows and damage. Natural crotched most of the first day and second morning.

Last ascent of day one I whipped out the Wraptor. Worked part of this side to open up a hole and establish a rigging point to help drift out more the next day onto the upper drive.

Stephen, that one wasn't dead.
It still had leaves on it. To a client ( at least around here), it means it ain't quite dead, lets wait a couple of years before calling an arbo.
Nasty one fer sure. That'll cost you some saw chains before you make it through.

You need to get a couple of hardhats for your ground crew, buddy.

Speaking of chain.... I need to work on some from yesterday. I am using some chain that does not have much life left as I get near the bottom on the limbs. Doctor them up with the Silvey and repeat.
I wish I could find a way to make the other two OWNERS wear hard hats.. They are in the truck...
Kat will sport on more so on prunes where she has to be under me more... Rob almost never.
Shit, Rob will chip with out gloves. You would think PPE is an abbreviation for a venereal disease..
My dad can be the same way when he comes out to the job sites. I don't understand the aversion to it.

Day 2 started as getting set up to do the more complex rigging chores, removing the rest of the brush on the other side of the tree. Some ladder work over the wall to prep for lowering. Pole saw work to clear the service lines. Setting up two gin poles for the wood over the fence.
Had to lag bolt the KK to the base as she was keeping some of the stem for a plant stand of sorts.
We could not cut a notch to hold it ......


Between the wires and the wall is basically our DZ for this leader of the tree..

Dunno about all that Chris... I am but a newb with all this compared to you and many others here. But thanks man...
This one has been a challenge and had to be thought out pretty well Jon.. Kind of job that I really love in this trade.
Truth is, I would have loved a crane on this. This needed to get done prior to snow and between my schedule, crane schedule, her budget.. I took part of the crane money to get it done.
Rigging things apart is a kick though. Time consuming, but a kick.

Good learning job for Kat... She got to run some rope. See some rigging she had not. Smacked her hand pretty good on the trunk one time though. She was too close on a trunk wrap and did not let the rope run... Nothing too bad, but it smarted...
But it sure would be fun to get some of the old pros (some of the younger ones here too) and do a big rigged out TD together and tag team it. Watching all that experience work would be amazing....

Something like Jerry B's treehouse project would be a fun thing to get a bunch of people together on, I agree.
Maybe someting will turn up for one of the members.
Something huge and interesting that would have to be done by a bunch of volunteers.

And thanks. That atta boy sure felt good Kinda had a boo boo today....... Smacked the partition wall next to the propane tank today... Damn...
First big hit since we started this work ...... HO was not terribly upset. I am going back tomorrow to fix the corner of the wall and stop by a few more days putting a coat of paint on it.


Dammit! Shat happens... Notice the plumbing we were really worried about... That stand pipe comes right up through slab. That would have sucked.
