Thats not strictly true. Vikings were great traders, and were quite strict about Law. They would happily settle and intermarry with locals, only going on the pillage when provoked. They did initially pillage a great many of England / Irelands monestary's, as there was usually a wealth of gold to be had. But they effectively ruled a lot of Britain and Ireland for hundreds of Years.

Interesting article.
The Amanita Muscaria is a bit tricky because the poison content may vary a lot according to what kind of soil it grows on.
It should always be dried before use,since most of the poison is destroyed by drying, leaving the hallucinogens and fear inhibitors.
If you just pick and eat it, chances are really good that it'll kill you.
