on the show the Stig drives the car of the day on the show track vs times set by personalities or the show hosts etc. The hosts usually have silly music playing in his car and make smartass comments about him and his habits. the driver under the helmet has been a few folks I think over the years.

I guess my parents must have known I'd end up doing a lot of travelling.
 
To get the I-Player working outside of the UK you need to use a proxy-server to give you a UK IP address then it will work.
It is possible but will take a fair bit od googling to make it work
