Visit to S. Carolina included the angel oak on John's Island

Those are the kind of tree I would like to sleep in. My buddies mom has a honey of a bur oak in her yard that is on the list.
 
I'm wondering if we could get permission to climb the angel oak. I've visited it a few times, its only 2.5 hours from home. I will make some calls to see if a research group of arborists could do an aerial inspection!

At first blush, I'd have to say the likely response would be, "get in line!" But you never know...nothing ventured, nothing gained.
