I took this pict at Olompali State Park in California on a hike. I believe it they are Northern tent caterpillars. I just had three days of classes and thought this pict would have been a good one for the pest seminar we had.

Anyone have any good borer picts? Those Emerald Ash Borers are cool looking and thankfully not this side of the Rockies.

Was the tree successfully pitching them out or were the little beasties winning?

Here is the skin of a lilac ash borer after it has already done its damage and left the tree as an adult.

Here are a couple Eastern Tent Caterpillars.......this was the year that we had trouble not only in the trees, but they somehow caused pregnant horses to miscarry (last I heard it was thought to be due to the caterpillars favorite food: wild cherry leaves, very toxic.)

Here's the big file, I used it for a desktop background for a while that year.
