The Official Work Pictures Thread

Working out of a bucket doing palms in high volume has to be more lucrative working for resorts or casinos. Probably more than double to triplease my daily take. I just don't have that ability since I don't own a bucket.
Then again, I can count on my fingers and toes how many palms I have done in these parts. Not many to do where I live. Lower elevations, plenty. But I rarely come down off these mountains.
 
Thanks Stephen, sounds like they're a pain for pretty much everybody. I'd take Sabal palms over Washingtonias any day, can't seem to get out of the Washies without looking like I've been in a knife fight. Yeah you guys are beasts, 40 in a day was tops for me.

Rats, snakes, bats, cockroaches, wasps and palmetto bugs all love to make their homes in palms Jim. Kind of like a box of chocolates............
 
I'm not very good about taking pictures when I'm stressed or in a hurry. So here was todays job. 3/4" polydyne tied in the top, run through a block on the other side of the road and tied to a mini excavator. Me standing on a ladder:/: making the cuts. I was only up a few steps so when it started to go I abandoned ship. We had the road closed for about 30 minutes. I excited now... the carver is suppose to be there tomorrow to sculpt this high stump. I'll take some pictures of it when it's finished.

If you want to see a packrat go build a small building out in the middle of nowhere. Make sure you board it up tight and then leave it for 2 years. When you return your building will be full of sticks, grass and anything else that was laying around. Oh and it will be so foul with urine and packrat crap you will have to burn it down.

Rajan, you sort of look for a hole in the center top. Shoot through the hole. The tricky part is cutting around your rope. Just keep an eye, cut just out past the rope. When ready to make your finish cuts in places, slack the rope while on the flip line, move rope and cut.
Totally get it Brian. Would have hated trying to gaff through all the older husks. With the stinging critters, yeah just let the calm flow :)
No paper wasps yet. Or rats, or.........

I am glad we don't have palm trees in Wisco.

And I forgot to mention scorpions, centipedes and ANTS. Those today were slap full of fire ants and I got a glimpse of this guy in the duff. I thought he was a snake at first but I believe it was a glass snake (legless lizard).
