Funked up twin stemmed maple removal today. We had a lorry crane onsite.

Glad I decided not to strop into this one. I noticed the crack on the bark and 4/5ths of the way though the cut the crack went and opened up a good few inches, felt is as my legs started moving apart.

Good job I followed my gut instinct and didn't use a steel strop. Luckily I has a solid anchor in another funked stem.

stem... LOL.

Nice day for it though.

The bit in the skip was about 4 metres up with about 15+ metres of crown above it and leaning towards a protected building / house. Glad it is done tbh.

I agree....nice chest harness. Where do you get that? Like the Rope Runner Pro, too...I am starting to understand mine better.

Thanks....great price. I like the attachment points. I used to use a cross chest bandolier style harness...lots of loops in it. My current chest harness has 0 points...I just put stuff on the straps...but it slides to points unknown. I may get one of those.

Cory, the other guessed it. It’s a 4 SRT Chester harness. The points are good as each of my SRT devices required a different tending point for ascension. BDB, Akimbo RR, RW, RRP, it is easy enough to switch them out.

The crane was a F820 from Fassi. All I can say i it was 1900 plus tax per hour for the rental.

A friend in the UK has just purchased and Spec’d up the same unit. Additionally he has a grapple saw for remote dismantling. Check out his Instagram. Awesome machine!

20 years ago in Italy the only crane that you ever saw on a lorry was an articulated or knuckle type boom. They have their place. The span of their outriggers is typically greater than that of an equivalently rated hydraulic telescopic. This is likely due to the fact that the knuckle booms are frequently heavier than a simple tele. Personally I prefer a hydraulic tele with a luffing jib. The tricky part of running any of these machines with 30m/100ft sticks is the difficulty to maintain a good line of sight. IMHO

Alistair's machine has all the bells and whistles. IIRC he even has a camera on the cutting head for accuracy.

I really like it Dave.

I have 2 og runners which I found hard to get in with but persevered and they were a delight to climb on once worn in.

The RRP was like a worn in RR without the teething troubles.

I also order new bollards and springs and locking nuts from tree stuff when I got the RRP. At some point I will recon the older ones.

That being said I have only tried it on Samson Voyager. It works a charm.

Had another knackered tree to do today. Luckily we had a bit of space.

One of the other guys onsite did this one and I ran the Avant. Pretty knackered tree.

Had a motor shop custy call for tree work, split walnut, the part still standing was heavy leaning towards the house. Maasdam and a bobcat pulled it over. 26" DBH.

Stripped a couple blue oaks to fit in LZs yesterday and put them on the ground today. HO doing some of the clean up. We just moved the brash out away from ehere it would be a fire hazard to the house. Smoke is limiting my hours. Still have one more over there to crown raise off a shop roof. Couple hours work once i can breathe.
