Merle, I opened the grapples a bit above the ground, squeeze and loosen the first x inches deep. Open again, lower, squeeze. Reach around on the far side, rinse, repeat. A chain around the base of the post, hook on grapple. Pull up, pull back gently to rock the post, then push with the boom a little, lift out. The homeowner will need to post hole dig a new hole to reset. In this case, he will maybe even expand his fenced area, post cottonwood removals.

I'm still in Melbourne. Amazing city.
Midland bid some prices lower than we were doing them for and that was a 7 year old contract!!
Hopefully it's biting them on the ass;)

I feel sorry for the guys who work for them, pressure, pressure, the street tree, high pollards must be a nightmare!

Melbourne sounds great, are you employed or running your own thing?

Took the boy on the job, time to start paying him a bit, got him roping down logs.
Few more from a recent cottonwood job. Less than kosher hydraulic spring board....and cutting rounds to fit down the side of the house

Didn't have the spring board in the last round. Some pics won't up load for whatever reason

I used the same kind of springboard last week. No pics though, it was dark and my groundie had already gone home......

Brian, kids are the hardest but coolest thing I've ever done. I doubt you'd regret it when the time is right!

Been blessed with two gooduns. My son will be a full-fledged Pharmacist in a few months and daughter is a Dental Hygienist. My son has run the ropes many times and is pretty sharp. I've never lost a minute's sleep worrying about either one. They were both home schooled and were way ahead of the pack when they got to college.
