So my rope wrench should be here tomorrow and I’ll be trying single line for the first time.

I run either a catalyst or “Arbsession” hitch when I DRT, my wrench and tether are otw to me and I’m going to try SRT for the first time. I got a 9.5” tether, is the allure of the VT based on how easy it tends when ascending up? Never understood why someone would want such a long hitch.

I mean I’m obviously going to test stuff out low and slow but just for starters should I use the same hitch i do for MRS? I usually use 8mm but I do have a 9 and 10mm. Both my climbing lines are 11.7 (bluemoon and hyper climb)

Just basically wondering do you guys use the same exact hitch setup for SRS as you do with MRS??

Boss rocks a hitch hiker, no wrench, no change. Very smooth system, very well dialed, very compact.

I use a Unicender, all of the above apply, with the added thrill of occasional drops if you bump the device wrong, as the boss likes to preach.

An Akimbo with a rope it likes is hard to beat.

I hate rope wrenches or any long, bulky system. I'll never climb on a zigzag again.

There's a decent chance you'd have to change your set up to switch between SRT and DRT, as the folded rope has more friction to fight inherently. May be as simple as removing the rope wrench, once you get your hitch happy.

Good to meet you Wwallace52590
I have never tried the wrench. I have met a very good wrench climber from Illinois. He swears by the Fitch Hitch. See video.

rope wrench was frustrating for me when i started using it. i was using 8mm cordage. ( it seized up and/or was a pain to release)
now i use 10mm hitch cordage on 11,5 -11,7 mm lines with a 5 wrap michocan. butter smooth.

smoother and more predictable than the akimbo2 (so far) mechanicals tend to be quicker on/off the rope.

i don‘t change the hitch when switching berween mrt and srt.
