No HA rack. I think that the old one was beat and removed, or something. He doesn't have a CDL and it needs one, so he drove it with a big worry. WA state just made some law/ rule where a CDL applicant, among other things, has to take a class for $5k, according to this guy Aaron, the truck owner. He's not super savvy. They were carrying rounds of wood with one or two guys. I had to say, "rounds are round, roll 'em". When he was over at my house the other day, I showed him my modified handtruck, the poor man's Arbor-trolley. I posted the pics of the mod at TB. I'll have to find one and show it here. Its not ground shattering, but what a help for such a minimal investment. One person to pick up rounds and logs using the hand truck as a lever.

Nothing, some buddies did it

Any idea on market value? I would like to move away from wood. I don't chip into it any more, except rarely, but don't know if I would go for a regular canopy, as they are typically too small for the way I use it. Maybe if I repair my Loadhandler, I would use it more for smaller jobs. I just don't like to tow my chipper and a load with my 1/2 ton, 2wd.

No, a few hundred maybe? A phone call with dimensions should get you a rough estimate

I can't imagine the small capacity of the 1/2 ton! DO you have the leaf springs beefed up at all? This is a somewhat low budget way to amp up your truck.

The weight in the bed after putting my chip box on is definitely an issue I have my truck at the Spring joint right now so I can blow chips into the bed and still drive away with the chipper. I had to leave the chipper last week after a long day of trimming ash and silver maple.

More of low legal capacity. My chipper is 4400 pounds, but only about 100 pounds tongue weight. A full sized bed full of chips though, well...

Last I chipped into it, it was for disposal onsite at another location, so we parked as close as possible to the brush, then drove and unloaded chips.

Beefing up springs only lets it ride higher. The transmission, brakes, axle, tires are not made for that load.

It was a stepping stone truck for chips, until I got a super great deal on this old asplundh truck that I have now.

I agree! I would have liked to have shook that guy's hand, but I was up and out of there before he came out of the store. Hope he doesn't mind me promoting his handy work!:lol:
