They can put a hell of a strain on you trying to position them I will say .The light weight is about the only thing I can say good in favor of that cheapy Poulan I have . Light usage fine but I doubt it would last the week in professional service .

That said though for the 200 bucks I paid for it it has more than earned it's keep .Couple hundred for used one of better quality would likely last the average homebody for years if it didn't get smashed some how .Handy tool who ever makes them .

Talking about weight. ;) My 5 FOOT wife tried it yesterday slid to shortest position to see if she could use it when I am not available. No problem :lol:. We will only use it a few hours at a time remember now and I could see how it will get heavy with a lot of usage.
Heck one handing wears me out in a few hours. Now this pole saw will help me cut a little safer without the risk I was taking in the past :\:.

I was just curious on the echo number to compare.

Am I reading right, 20 feet of reach with the 5 ft extension. That is like putting 3 pole saw sections together, can't imagine trying to manage a power pruner with that much length.
 
Those numbers are height off the ground and account for the fact that you're holding it 5'-6' off the ground. Subtract 5' or so for actual length.
 
I lifted 24 trees that were full of dead and almost all below head height today. Probably 4 hours on the PPT 261 and the rest touch up the the manual pole saw/pruner and 200T. Yup.. I be sore.

Brian.. My PPT is about 9 foot end to end collapsed. Has to go in the long bed diagonal to fit. Not much over 12 foot fully extended end to end. That would be motor head to tip of the bar. So the 17 foot would be end to end measurement with the 5 foot extension. That is why I said it could cut at 20 foot with my reach. :) Easily actually.. Just have to hoist it up into position.:|:

I work mine with out the strap and usually balance it more straight up to place it upon the branch I am cutting. Under cutting kinda sux until you build up to it.. But as I stated.... I don't have the extension and I could not even imagine trying to under cut with the extra weight :|:

Edit.... No .. once I get the head into position I am NOT under the branch as I move the saw into a more angled position :)
 
Just a little note about my 90 degree pole saw..:|: New shaft, coupling and small shaft. Housing was not damaged since the tree landed on the coupling right next to the clutch housing. Whole repair with labor came to 80 bucks. Not bad considering. 8)

Echo dealer? I have a Dolmar/Echo dealer here.

Do you happen to know the dl count? 44 or 45 maybe? I'm going to get one of those PS3 for it.
 
My Stihl HT101 pole pruner is about 2.5 years old and I'm within a few months of replacing the original chain. I think I have about 2 more sharpenings in it. :D
 
Not like we use them near the rocks and what not :lol:
I've had my Echo for about 2 years and the chain is still about 50 percent.
My Stihl I have had for 6 years and I think I have bought maybe 3 chains for it in that time.

Thanks. I will check mine when I pull it down for the spring trimming. I was just wondering on dl count in case I come across the ps chain up this way.

I'm still trying to get a price in 25' 50' 100'.

The bar has a 44 in the number sequence, so I figured it was 44. Guess I need to count the old chain :|: on me. I only had a 45dl to throw on it and it works.
 
Whatever works in a pinch. I know I have a loop around here of LP for it somewhere brand spanking new in a box and I can't find it anywhere. Ditto that for the Stihl also. I just need to fix the oiler on the Stihl and get it back in the truck. There is a lot of trimming I can do with a 6 footer and not have to run the 261 all day:|: No worries though as it is good for ya musk-els:lol:
Sure did miss it while it was gone though. To pole saw everything with the Marvin kind of sux :P
 
Attention all members: Might I suggest my product known as the Easy-Lift Harness. From the post that I have read on the echo PPT 261 it seems to be a good addition to ones arsenal of saws to work with day in and out. Now imagine a device capable of lifting up to 100% of the implements weight while at the same time allowing the operator complete control of the saw?
The operator is no longer lifting the saw but merely shifting the saw from one hand to the other. It's not magic, it's the Easy-Lift Harness. Videos were posted earlier on How'd it go today? page # 2539. Enjoy the videos and the pleasure of working smarter in stead of harder.
 
Too cumbersome a product for me to wear in the brush. I would get stuck on stuff right and left. Thanks anyway. Just not practical for my work environment.
 
Thanks for your comment. The ELH is very adaptable to most uses safely working on the ground or out of a bucket. Have a great weekend!
