Drive Sprockets for Mini

Hey guys I just ordered a new set of tracks for my boxer tl224 and while it was apart I was looking at the sprockets. I talked to Dave at Top Notch about replacing them but he was skeptical about needing to be replaced. So I snapped some pictures for you guys to take a look and get some opinion on them. I found a set for $200 shipped to my door but if these ones are good Ill put them on with the new tracks. Let me know what you guys think of them. Thanks

I might be inclined to put them on in the reverse way that they came off. So now the other side of the tooth will see wear.

Good thinking Brendon, to be honest I didn't even think of that.

That was a common procedure with chain drive motorcycles back in the day when I had one and 95% of all motorcycles used a chain drive. The accepted knowledge was that the sprocket would wear a bit faster on the second half after you flipped it. That said, yours don't look all that bad yet.

1500 hrs is awesome! There is 700 on mine and they are completely shot

Wow that must mean I am hard on things. I am on my third set at just over 500 hrs. I wore the first set out until the steel belts were showing and rode it out until one of the tracks actually broke.

The first set I bought through BLS Enterprises (http://www.tufpads.com/). They were OEM Bridgestone, and a lot cheaper than what Vermeer wanted. I can't remember the price off the top of my head. The second set I bought this last fall from Summit (http://www.mmmachine.com/rubbertracks.htm). I figure if I am going to wear them out that fast there is no point in buying the expensive tracks.

I'm shocked you destroyed tracks in 500 hours. Are you on the pavement with it almost all the time?

Oh yeah, at least over 50% of the time is on pavement. I even try my best not to turn sharp on pavement. I am averaging about 250 hrs/set.

I haven't investigated it because I have no need to however when Caterpillar came out with the challanger ag crawlers they mentioned reconditioning the rubber tracks .

Perhaps if this service is available for smaller rubber tracked vehicles it might be a less expensive option ?
