I've had a pair since TCIA...expect mine are Stein and a much cooler color lol. No difference other than color, love them so far. Only used them 2 or 3 times, but so far they measure up to Dad's geckos.

LOL. I tested a pair on my Buckingham Titaniums. Only thing I can say is they were light. Other than that there was absolutely no redeeming qualities. I'm guessing by the rave review by some that the are better on the stock Climb Right shanks.

Been wearing angled pads for several years now. Lets see.....the pads only come around to the center of the shin, the slot for the velcro is not smoothed out so not only are the pads difficult to get tight but, the velcro strap will wear out way too quick. On Buckingham spurs all of the weight is bearing down on two little screws, in order to even get sort of close on height adjustment for anyone but dwarves, it means that the top of the shank is not even in the little tunnel.

They are the most painful pads I have worn in over 2 decades.

I just got a pair of Climb Right spikes...I do fine with L pads, never had an issue with L pads on my Bashlins so I stuck with them for the new spikes, plus all up they were only $189.

On a side note there was a thread at ArbTalk about the Stein branded ones showing quite a bit of wear where the O ring for the ankle strap rubs against the shank. I had mine on for all of 15 mins and when I looked they had started to wear already...steel against aluminum. Stein has a nifty metal clip that can be put behind the ring, but I reckon it will only wear so far then stop, and its thick aluminum there anyway.

Thought I'd also point out, I bought these off the recommendation of Reg Coates. Don't know how many people here know him, great guy though, and someone who spends a lot of time in spurs.

First impressions: I like them alot. I will get a more comprehensive review and a video together as soon as i can. I am leaving for India for two weeks shortly after Christmas so the video will take some time but i can probly get a written review review sooner.

My review as posted on Treestuff.com

Just got these as an early Christmas present. Havent spent alot of time on them but did a few small removals and so far they seem awesome.

The attachment between the pad and the spur is rock solid. I am very tall, 6'3", and have them adjusted as high as they will go, i kind of wish they had a female to male extender available so i could put them up a little higher but i cant really complain.

There really is no pushing/twisting of the spur shank at all against your leg, this is traded for a sort of leverage between the top of the hard pad and your shin, the foam in between is really dense yet soft and because of the velcro it can be moved. It comes centered but i offset it a little bit aimed towards the top which lets it bend over the top of the hard pad and shield your leg.

My other pads are buckingham velcro wraps, without the steel, and i was never able to get them tight enough for my skinny calves because of the length of the velcro, which caused me all sorts of problems. These get plenty tight enough for me and even more so if you are skinnier

The only other downside i noticed so far, beyond the sleight height issue, is that the top of the pad creates a little bit of chafing between my jeans and my shins, i think for a full day removal it would be worth it to throw some athletic tape on my shins to reduce the friction.

The aluminum construction seems really rugged and is a welcome replacement to my old hand-me-down rusted over buckingham steel climbers. I cannot imagine them wearing out any time soon.

Overall i feel like these are a great product; really light without the cost of the titanium rigs, very sturdy construction, no spur shank digging into your leg whatsoever, comfortable, and they look sweet.

Thanks to Spyderco and Treestuff!

I dont have any durability issues at all. In all likelyhood, they will probly last me for ever. I dont do removals 5 days a week though.
