    Falling Trees in the Wind

O-o-o-r-r-r-r-r....maybe we're all not slipping quite so badly? I think it has more to do with the fact that as we get older, we get lazier, and take risky shortcuts at times, or just get in too big a hurry. Glad all ended well, coulda been bad.

    Falling Trees in the Wind

Unless it's setting a line above you and then hustling to the ground to help the ground personnel pull it over....

    Falling Trees in the Wind

I suppose someone good at fabbing stuff might be able to engineer something like that, Burnham, but since I learned how to deal with it, it's not that bad. What's amazing is that they only rate these big rascals at 2 tons, yet they build them much beefier, and put bigger cable on them than the...

    Falling Trees in the Wind

That's definitely an issue. I get around it by releasing the pawl as I walk backward (or have my help pull cable off), in a stop-and-go sequence. Just release it for a couple of seconds and immediately release it. Aggravating, but it avoids the backlash. I've got some Amsteel Blue to try on one...

    Falling Trees in the Wind

If they help get that big red oak on the ground, they'll be worth every bit of $170 each....easy.

It is, it is, but I didn't buy them to fit the company's needs. I bought them to pull trees, and sometimes the tree needs more persuasion than the company approves.

    Falling Trees in the Wind

Actually, I was referring to these, of which I have two, and I can attest to the fact that they'll pull lots more than the 2-tons they're rated for. Heavy duty, and very durable. 40' of 3/16" cable, along with a block to double your power. Biggest problem I've had is with the handle. I put a...

    Falling Trees in the Wind

I climbed and took down a water oak last week with the wind blowing so hard, I cut several limbs directly opposite their lean and the wind took them right over for me. It was ridiculous how hard it started blowing about the time I got up in the tree. I've got a big red oak to get down in a week...
