I think $17K is a little high. Not outrageous, but I agree with the points Carl made. Yes its clean, and yes it has a fresh engine. I like that. But the tranny isn't top notch unless its been built. I wouldn't run from a 6.0 either. Most of their issues have been worked out by a previous owner...

Jay, that truck is awesome. I would drive that in an instant. I'd be scared of impact with the huge American vehicles but otherwise, I'd absolutely plop some money down for that truck. Period. Ranger, I was borrowing it for a sudden trip a few hours away and wanted it for the fuel mileage. I...

Rust free. 240k miles, fresh engine and rear. Mechanically perfect. I had it painted and put spark plugs in it once. That was it.

I had an 89 superduty stakebody with a 460. That truck was a monster. I regret selling it all the time. We loaded that thing to outrageous weights constantly and it never flinched. Ever.

You got a lot to learn about business. In the mean time, get a truck that treats you well and suits your needs. Don't let me mislead you into thinking I'm against buying Fords. I will ONLY purchase fords while i roam this great earth. And in heaven, or hell, ill pick up a paper as soon as I get...

Ok, you're wrong. From a heartwarming standpoint you are right. From a basic knowledge of world economics standpoint, you are wrong. Nobody is talking about each and every truck part. It's a matter of "where do the profits go?".

Exactly. It's far more complex nowadays then just buying American. I prefer to buy from mom and pop operations over big chain stores as opposed to buying American only. I do love buying American. But i SEE tangible results from spending money on homegrown businesses.

Get the truck that suits your location, budget, and work style. Buying American is nice. However, when you buy an import vehicle, you pour plenty of profits into the American economy. You bring profit the the dealer/seller, the parts store/dealer, the local mechanic/dealer, etc. Buying American...

I've ridden the public bus with a bag of climbing gear and a 200t. Many times. That was long ago. Pre wife kids business. I lost my drivers license for a year in my early 20's. People sometimes smell the saw.

I bleed Ford. I come from a long line of people that bleed Ford. I don't care if Chevy and dodge give away a lifetime warranty and do buy one get one free on trucks. It wouldnt even get my attention if another brand built a fail proof truck that runs on sunlight and smiles. Id still buy a Ford...
