Yes, front guy can't get caught. I was thinking well off the lay. Trunk wrap that can be let go, and it needed, wrapped more. Maybe I was skeptical at the time, don't remember specifically. Heard from the HO that she is getting other bids and will let me know. $800 for a rotten, hollow...

    Tension Released Felling Cut

Back to the original topic, I have a 100' hemlock with a rotten, hollow base- a drum. Cavity in the one side, which I how I know its a drum. Crown is full. Likely annosus. Pardon a repeat if I mentioned this already, sleep deprived at the moment with the baby. I'm considering dropping a top...

Interesting Greg. I avoid using my three strand for speedlines because its too bumpy and stretchy. Agreed that a controlled speedline can be time consuming, but so can regular straight down rigging. Zipline speedlining or uncontrolled speedlines and vertical speedlines are very useful and...

    Tension Released Felling Cut

speedlines rock! I've had low, long fir limbs over rhodies. Shoot a line high for the top, use 2:1 or 3:1 MA at bottom. SL sling in middle of limb. creates V in speedline rope. tension hard to lift limb partway, maintain pulling on MA. drop cut limb while continuing to pull preventing slack...

    Tension Released Felling Cut

I wondered if the snap gate would abrade the line as it bounces along. Probably minor. Captive eye is nice for no risk of crossloading. Lots of metal for the wear surface. Cheaper than steel 'biners, probably?

Sometimes invention is the mother of necessity. Anybody seen The Gods must be Crazy? Nobody every needed the Coke bottle until they had it.

I've hear of Euc man meaning adrenaline pumping danger tree cowboy type, and Oak man meaning more Zen style.
