why not use a real piece of rope and run that straight down to the crew? personally,if i can move it when its static i can with no doubt move it while dynamic,im able to move/manipulate things in their dynamic state that I could not move otherwise.

I don't get it,why you need to snub of a limb if you're flying the boom?

Imo the weakness of a knot is no concern when im using a line of that diameter to rig. Steel biner is well in the wll
