Your typical residential, urban forester feller will stand by idly watching the tree go over, or even try to "steer" it as it falls. Conversely, every logger/forester I've ever seen will beat feet and get the heck out...

    That makes sense. The vast majority of our work is in suburban residential lots, so we rarely have an opportunity to drop entire trees. For a back leaner, I've always used a pull line, sometimes backed up with wedges.
