What they said...it's what we are taught in the UK...and it works. Some folks seem to think it will snatch your saw, it doesn't. For smaller trees where there isn't enough room to get a bore cut in, you cut two small face cuts that meet in the point of a triangle facing the lay...then back...- Bermy
