Well let's face it most of us are half way around the world from this thing .All perhaps with good ideas but Jay is the only one who can see the thing up close and personal .
If it wasn't for that stone arch it would be a cake walk .Too bad they can't just move the arch for a little bit then...
I generally use a heavy nylon strap .It won't tear the bark up like a steel chocker or a chain .The one in the pic is rated for 5,000 choked and 8,000 in a sling .I've got a few heavier that are rated for12 ,000 choked .
Well all things considered and especially due to the importance of the stone arch to the temple precautions will have to be taken .
I know nothing about the culture and only speculate that for all intents the arch is irreplacable .
Well you know it is a problem .You either have to launch that thing so it clears the stump or control it if it hangs on .
I suppose a humbolt would launch it but now would it bounce back or sideways if it hit the top of another tree on the fall ?
If you're going to take an alley shot I'd get a set of gunning sticks on that thing and make damned sure the hinge is right on the money .If you put an open face on it it should hold clear to the ground .
