Thanks for all the compliments guys, it definately was a beast. I think the guys with the loader had as much fun helping us pull it over and what not as we didnt have cutting it. Its nice to leave others in awe of what we do.

We did top the thing to start. Originally i was considering flopping the whole tree tho.
We looked at this thing for 2 weeks while working around it clearing out other crap and cleaning up. Saved this for last.

Additional info: tree is mostly dead except for a couple large low leads on opposing sides. It appears to have been hit by lightning. We are taking a week off the project to get some local work done, then back at it. Thanks for all the imput but I think im going to skip the jack idea and put...

The only one i have related to the job is this one: 880 w/ 47" bar.
Fortunatly the tree is in the woods, in a row for a new powerline.
Gary, do you make the notch for the jack before the felling notch? The vid is great, but more detail into the process would be greater.
Ive got a huge (at least for this area) 80" dbh cottonwood to take down in the next couple weeks. I can delimb the tree but for the trunk im looking for some info.
Anyone here ever used a jack to lift the tree over? Im wondering if simple wedges will be enuf or should I go bigger.
