Honest review of the Husqvarna 592XP

592 is a ripper, super strong out of the box. My saw guy says he doesn't get a whole lot more out of them. Hell they're even loud stock! I would say my 394 (ported) pulls a 36"+ a little better but it feels like a bigger saw as well. The 592 feels like a 661 size and weight wise but has alot...

    Log Grapple for Mini Excavator

Mine either. They've built one other before this one. It's the cats meow for sure. Every once in a blue moon a rotator would be nice but I wouldn't trade for lighter weight and shorter height (higher lift)

    Log Grapple for Mini Excavator

Basically this is a branch manager bmg setup for a kubota mini ex with quick attach. Fits 2-4ton machines. Easy to adapt to other makes of excavators with new bucket ears. Hoses are pretty long and have male 1/2" npt fittings. I used flat faced quick couples for mine but you will need to figure...

Favorite 1/2” rope for natural crotch rigging?

I really like 16 strands for the natural crotch/ beater kind of lines. Bought a hank of true blue recently and it's really good as well. Lighter and easier to knot than arbormaster, seems just as durable so far, and maybe a tad stretchier which is a good thing IMO. Also doesnt seem to hockle as...

    Shipping equipment

I was hoping to find someone local as well but it may be difficult as we're moving from one small town to another.. Got one quote today and it seemed reasonable considering the distance. @lumberjack Any companies you've dealt with that you'd recommend?

    Contracts

I'm kind of 50/50 with signed contracts. A lot of times a ballpark quote and a handshake is fine but this is mostly for existing clients that I have a relationship with. Bigger jobs, HOAs, property managers, contractors, etc get a contract to sign. Any time there's a risk of damage out of our...

    Shipping equipment

Looks like we will be moving across the country this fall. I will be moving the tree biz as well. Strongly considering shipping my chipper and chip truck and mini ex rather than making an extra trip and driving/hauling it myself. I'm thinking everything will fit on a step deck trailer...

    550xp mk1 ported

2012 550xp ported by Brad Snelling. Brand new .325 20" husky bar, chain, and sprocket. 560xp inner dog and roller. (Have outer as well as original dog) Mesh and felt type air filters. Decomp plugged Saw runs really strong. Has typical "warm" starting issues of early auto tune stuff. The case...

    Rope diameter for pulling

I've broken a few 1/2" lines with a 1 ton, not exactly easily though.

    Your favorite saw.

Could be our tight grained hardwoods too but when the chain is getting tan/brown gunk caked there's not enough oil IMO

    Your favorite saw.

Always felt like a 066/66x had trouble oiling a 36" bar. Balance is definitely off too but even my 394 is nose heavy with a 36. Reduced weight 32" is great on my 592, similar weight to a 661 so I'll bet that would be a nice combo. She flat out owns that 32 as well...

    Kretz/brittle cinder

Kretzschmaria is generally a basal decay, hypoxolon is more often up in the crown or further up the trunk. The danger in K deusta is that the tree often appears healthy and has a full "sail" and the wind will snap it right off the root plate (or what's left of it) It can be difficult to see...

    The Official Work Pictures Thread

Is beech bark disease a thing there? We've had it for a few years. Seems to be really isolated in little pockets.
