Here’s a couple of pics from Google street view from a while back, the first to show it’s height, the second to show it was only 8’-10’ from the primary (before being blown over). I’m surprised the power company hadn’t already cut it, as they have a 15’ ROW easement, though they often bend that...

Since I don’t climb, I was gonna ask if it could have been pulled up a bit and then flopped to the side, you answered 🤙🏻

Makes sense, thanks. I have used small string to separate things by wrapping it tightly over itself such that the compression force of each wrap adds to the ones below, and as they try to slip past each other, they wedge things apart. Leverage with string.

I forgot to mention that I had side guys on it as well, just in case that once I got to the top and cut the last limbs loose, the root ball wasn’t secure enough to prevent lateral movement. If it swung to the right, I’d have been riding toward the power line, and to the left, a 20’-30’ swing to...

2 wraps get wedged side by side in the pulley causing the pulley core to separate from the force. With properly sized rope, there isn't nearly enough room for 2 wraps to be side by side so the wraps stay stacked on one another as intended. What is a better word or description for 'the pulley core'?

That's a challenging one, from the rigging to the climbing, to keeping your mind from messing with you over the whole shebang. Very good work.

How'd this happen? Too many wraps? Slack rope caught in the flywheel?

That was good. It brings back many memories of when I started in the Maine woods in '77.

Fun time today. Got a call two weeks ago about an uprooted pine hung in another one. Fair size pine…over 90’ tall. I set a 5/8” Stable Braid line in it and ran it over the primary and anchored off with a 2:1 to the base of a large oak. Used the Ram to lift it enough that I knew it wasn’t resting...
