Pruning small oak off eaves?

Small thinning cuts (to the origin of the removed branch from the 'parent' branch for a few feet of clearance from the house.

Branch collar cut via 3-point pruning cut method.

Hand saw.

Check for oak wilt season.

Lysol spray for sterilizing, if desired.

The plot thickens.

Will the unhealed heavy cuts heal over? I assume they were cut too close and too large. I seem to recall reading that the healing tissue can be trimmed back slightly to encourage it to keep growing and completely compartmentalize?
