The 3/4 wrap handle is a must in my world. I loved the USFS owned 066 I ran for at least 15 years when working as a govt. slave wage peep . The Hotshot crew's stock 660 I used a few times on fireline work was a disappointment in comparison.
Never had the chance to run a stock 661, let alone a massaged one. I look forward to your report on performance.
Not much time but real good so far. 32” aggressive round filed full comp, didn’t balk. I like the feel and the self tuning. A little heavier than a 390 but lighter than a 395 and more torque than the 390.
Ported by a fella (Simon) in western Canada who was well known and died young at 51. There is a thread about him in AS. “Ported” is a broad term but it seems good. Some juts run a chainsaw chain file thru the ports, some increase compression and adjust timing for real performance. Like @huskihl
It will likely become my main saw and replace a few 288s. I need to thin the 70-80cc herd too.
i like my stock 661 (with oil filter, oem filter is not usable) i don‘t own a ported saw and have never even used one. the day i do, i propably have 10 saws for sale

One would think that Stihl would do their R&D a bit better. The 201 was a bust and they didn't stand behind it. I still don't care for their flippys. Easy to overfill the oil and prone to collecting debris that can get in oil. I could think of more.
