Seeing as how there are at least four threads at the Buzz already, I thought I'd start one here. Check it out, the "Ergovation," from Buckingham.

Saddles are definitely evolving. I remember seeing the Buckingham Glide when it was first introduced at the '04 TCIA expo. This one looks light years ahead of the Glide.

Very heavy! And hefty in cost at $589.00 for the base saddle only.

I tried it on and wasnt impressed. All it is, is a Treemotion knock off with a lumbar support added "to eliminate the risk of back injury"

I must admit that I'm getting bored with the parade of new saddles. Some inovation is nice and there was certainly room for improvement of comfort a few years ago. On one hand I;m impressed that the market has room fro so many saddles, on the other I think we really need a half dozen good designs with different features to fit different body types and needs rather than a new triple priced wad of plastic crap almost like last year's popular wad of plastic crap.

It is a shame to see such a blatant knock off of such an innovative saddle. They even stole the fancy hardware piece where the bridge attaches.

Looks clunky.

What does it weigh?

I tried this one on in the arborist store last week, wasnt my size so it promptly slid off my skinny butt. Super light feeling though, pricewise I was told about $300 CDN.

I don't understand why everyone is against this saddle because it looks like the TM. I think the Cougar looks like the Glide which kind of looks like the Butterfly, which kind of looks like the Sequoia. Lets face it, there are only so many designs that are possible for saddles. This saddle is not just like the TM. Why can we all accept it for what it is, a new saddle that has some similarities to an old one. If it ends up being a scrappy saddle it will go away. Until that happens, who cares.

Hey Paul, the Cougar is a great saddle!!! I just got my small in after having a medium (way to big). Haven't had a chance to sit in mine yet, but others I have sat in feel great!!

Looks like another saddle to me. All these new saddles don't LOOK like they would hold up, but I really have no experience.

Ranger, you say that about every saddle you buy, then sell it a week later.

All I know is that the saddle definitely makes the climber. The more you spend, the better a climber you are.

I just say that to him because it's very misleading for people wanting to buy an item someone never spent more than a day using and they are spitting out suggestions on how good it is.

I'll shut up now.;)

Yep, guilty as charged!!

Seriously though, the Cougar is one hell of a saddle, especially for the $$$$$

The color is pretty cool. The name is not.

All the innovations are good for everyone in the long run, though it seems the pricing is outta control..at this rate there will be a $1000.00 saddle by the end of the decade.

That will go hand in hand with a 750.00 tophandle saw, lifeline at 1.25 per foot, 30.00 biners, 150.00 for a helmet. and I'll bet the hourly rate for a climber goes up .10, hell maybe even .15 cents.

Think how cool it will be, the average climber will have a 6-8 weeks wages tied up in a basic kit. Cool.8)

There was a post at the Buzz a while back, a young fellow was saying, "I just can't make up my mind what saddle to buy."

I never had that problem.

There was a gamut of new saddles on display at TCI, and for the most part they all played along the same theme.
