My daughter has a friend who is missing

This guy is a friend of my daughter Teryn who lives in San Francisco.

She is all down in the dumps lately. One of the Sushi Chefs where she works was a kind of old guy (52) but very athletic and seemingly healthy. He is a Jamaican immigrant who about a week ago one of his legs just stopped responding to anything. His girlfriend takes him into the ER and they admit him and it turns out he has well advanced brain cancer.
