A friend turned me on to using Beeswax to treat the ends of HRC or Beeline. Probably not as durable as the Starbrite, but a nice, non-chemical alternative.

Do you melt the beeswax and dip the ends of the line?

beeswax is good cause you can chew some off when you get thirsty or want to chew on something.

I tried beeswax about 2 years ago. I didn't like it at all. After about an hour climbing it all turned to powder and needed a recoating. I recoated it, then the same happened. I went back to maxijacket. I liked that it was readily available and easy to work with, though.
