66 years ago today those gentlemen from Japan paid us a visit. A lot of people lost their lives, they paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory, and our interests are in grave danger. "Franklin Big R"

It has always been interesting to me that the fellow who planned the attack, Yamato, did not believe Japan could defeat the U.S. He had gone to school in America and was familiar with his opponent. He was not an advocate of war with America but since his nations path to war seemed irreversible he came up with the best possible plan. They kicked our arses in a big way for the first part of the war. Yamato was shot down in a transport plane and we rebuilt a Navy that was much better than the one that was lost in Pearl Harbor.

Well boys its December 7 2007 and you sure don't hear much if anything on the news about the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor by the japs. Maybe its not PC and if nothing is said it will all just go away.

My Dad said many years ago that the biggest mistake this country ever commited was dropping only 2 bombs. He said he would dropping them yet if he had his way.

2388 Americans died in the attack. :X

Dec 7, 1949, my momma was born. Happy Birthday ma! :) saw her this mornin and dropped off some flowers, we (wife and I) are going to visit and have supper on Monday.

I read once that the Japanese got messed up on their timing between the diplomats and the military. If it had worked out like they planned it would not have not been a sneak attack technically. Although we all know the Japanese carriers left Japan under radio silence while we were at peace. That whole thing with Admiral Yamamoto is pretty wild. We were able to shoot his plane down because we had broken their code. My FIL was in the Marines and got separated from his outfit and ended up on a destroyer that was alone and went cruising around the South Pacific talking on the radio as if they were a carrier group.

Terrible attack, but it helped us Brits out, without the Pearl Harbor attack we would have been in a even worse predicament. The Japanese made a awful mistake attacking America.

I heard this also, they say that the diplomats deciphered and typed the message themselves. The message was in like 14 parts and that neither of them could type. The historians also say that the pilots, crew and senior staff were very unhappy about this.
