This is the Hustler I have been trying to work on. It's done! I wont even try to rebuild this motor! I have NEVER seen anything like this!

It seems the valve broke half way up the stem and took out the piston? I wish I could get pics, but the rings are still wrapped around the connecting rod. The crank is totally locked, I think the other rod is bent, but I am not sure yet. No matter, for what a new motor costs, I can't rebuild and try to garuntee theis one!

The biggest piece I found, was a quarter of the piston. This is the ugliest motor I have seen to date!

DAYUM!

Looks like the tappet for the exhuast got tight, letting the valve overheat? Game over, either way!

The other plug had a white tint to it, indicating running lean. I sill want to pull off the other head, just to look.
As much metal as there is floating around, I don't think I would trust it even after an acid bath.
I still haven't found the rest of the valve, I thought it would be in the piston, but it's not.
The valve is not stuck. That was the first thing I checked before I pulled the head. They moved freely.
The hunt is on for a new motor!

I finally got enough time and pulled of the other head. Lots of carbon! My theory, it was running lean, carboned up, a chunck broke loose sticking the valve open. The piston hit the valve, causing it to break off, then shoved it up into the plug. Then all of that crap floating around dissengrated the piston.
Sound good to everyone else?

That's a high priced rascal for a new one . Around 1600 bucks at small engine warehouse in Indiana .It might be cheaper at Tulsa engine ,didn't check .

His dealer/buddy thought he could get one around $1500. I don't think I can beat that, but he wants me to look. I was going to check Jacks, Tulsa, and I think it was Engine wharehouse? online for prices.
I'm also looking into a waranty/recall possibility. But I am not holding my breath.

Edit: DUH!!! You already looked at engine warehouse! I need some sleep!

Well his dealer/budd can only order parts, so thats out!
The engine from Wharehouse isn't the latest incarnation (most recent updates) and has a one year warantee. It's out.
I have not been able to get ahold of Mike again, I guess he's swamped! So he's out!
I called Cutting Edge in NY, they are getting me a shiping price together for a drop here in town, local machine shop. Newest, latest and greatest, with a two year waruntee.
