For any of you with an interest in drill teams you might find this of interest. I have been part of an organization that was formed in the 1960's to honor our country’s veterans...part of the training that is done is with a kukri, a short sword made famous by the Gurkhas. My instructor is a Gurkha and has taught us the system that he was taught for use of the kukri.

Drill teams have performed around the country for over 40 years to display and preserve the skills and lessons of combat that many Gurkhas paid for with their lives. Our team has performed in the past for Merrill’s Marauders (http://www.marauder.org/), CBI (China-Burma_India) veterans meetings, the OSS-101 (the seed organization for the CIA), the 58th Bomb Wing Association, etc. Other teams around the country perform at parades, in Washington D.C. events, at local veterans groups, VA Hospitals, etc. We train with dull edged kukris...just like a military drill team that performs with unloaded rifles.

Here is a video of our Bando Kukri Drill Team last Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009...we participated in the 57th Old Soldier's Day Parade in Alpharetta,GA on Saturday.

If you look closely at the 3:54 mark, you can see my wife and grandson sitting on the curb under the word "Rite"...I heard Lindsay give us a big "yo, yo, yo" which is our family code for "pay attention!!". We gave them their own private "little show" as Hayden called it...he had trouble understanding why I didn't come over to sit with him and watch the parade.

Not looking for accolades, just sharing something that is probably unique to most of you.

And here is the last of the footage from the Old Soldier's Parade. After we did the presentation for the General we did one last set on the ball field so we would have a video with a simple background...minimal distractions.

That's pretty cool Gary. I never had heard much about the China-Burma-India theater until I read the book The Chindit Soldiers.
