    Fighting The Heat!!!

I found a good way to stay cool when in bed at night is to get a small fan, say eight or ten inch diameter or so, and with it sitting close have it blow it directly on your face. I find it easy to fall asleep that way. However hot it is in the room doesn't make any difference. Mine is two...

    Fighting The Heat!!!

Dry heat is sure better than wet heat. California vs Asia. Rain is nice in the heat sometimes, and it really cleans you out.

    Fighting The Heat!!!

51.5C is some very serious heat even for brown skins living far away. Once it got up to 45 in my shop. I found it impossible to work, not that the heat was physically debilitating, but the mental powers couldn't function. I noticed myself walking in circles. Over 50, man I don't know...

    Fighting The Heat!!!

We had something close to a late frost here, all the keen vegee gardeners that had put in seedlings already, wished that they hadn't.

    Fighting The Heat!!!

Butch, have you tried using the ice packs that you can refreeze for your cooler? I assume that you have them there? It makes things a bit easier, just toss them in the freezer when you get home, use the nest morning. I don't know if it is water in those packs, maybe something else? I use...

    Fighting The Heat!!!

Sure thing, enthusiasm got the better of me. Back to the heat, got a fan blowing on me now. No breeze tonight. I like to drink liquids before going to bed too, a couple glasses full, usually no need to get up to relieve. I don't know if it is purposeful to be hydrated in bed, but maybe anywhere.

You're a sensible lad, Deva. Maybe if you're a pro racing in the Pyrenees, otherwise nobody needs more than ten gears. I'm digging one speed, but not for the hills.

    Fighting The Heat!!!

Speaking of riding, there are certainly a lot of good reasons to do so these days. A guy came over with a belt drive bike, some hard rubber like material with minimal stretch. The frame comes apart to put on the belt, no joint in the rubber. His was single speed, but something about a six or...

    Fighting The Heat!!!

Taking bottles of frozen drink whatever to jobs has gotten so popular that someone got the bright idea to sell it at convenience stores now. I bring my own frozen concoctions. I've heard it sad that ice cold isn't so good for you, but it hasn't seemed to bother me. Just in a flimsy stay cold...

That might be real useful for a friend of mine. He is active, but has some ailment that doesn't allow him to sweat properly.

    Fighting The Heat!!!

In these parts, wasps and other flying critters that aren't your friends, are particularly attracted to the color black with aggressive behavior. I have witness it directly myself on a cycling trip when stopping in at a covered bench thing, my friend being swarmed upon immediately after...

    Fighting The Heat!!!

Have to admit, it is a little humorous to see a very heavyset crane operator get out of his cab with one of those donuts around their neck, the kind to ease long inflight travel.
