    I punch the hole to the side (I buy mine in the rectangular jugs). I normally pour from the side, rather than tipping the jug up vertically. The white jug is bar oil, hole punched with scrench. The blue is mixing oil, hole punched with 8d nail (this one tore a little).

    I don't want an air hole, because I lightly squeeze the jug to make the oil flow, then when you relax the jug, the flow cuts off. Really helps when it's colder, as you can squeeze harder to increase the flow. With an air hole, you have to rely on tipping the jug back before it overflows. Just my...
