How to fell a leaning tree.
I never trust a leaner's hinge to hold all the way to the ground anyway, especially if it leans heavy. I depend more on continued pull with the rope to guide it into the lay.- treesmith

I tend to make mine perpendicular to the stem, as in the image on the right. Just seems stronger to me....thanks Carl for explaining why.:P- treesmith
