    How's the splice today?

I’ve been having issues with my stablebraid whipping getting tore all to hell. I think I’ll try making the eyes bigger to keep the loop in the bight of the cow hitch better. For the ones I have right now I’m going to lock stitch a bit different

    How's the splice today?

Is that just a straight long bury?

    How's the splice today?

Mostly choker. I don’t see why basket would hurt it but also don’t know why I would

    How's the splice today?

Whoopi’s are cool but I have grown away from them. They work good for a while and then become a PITA to adjust. I vote ultra. They eat up a lot of cordage though. And welcome to the House

    How's the splice today?

Could be right on that. I know a lot of the smaller retailers are banding together to get buying power against VSG or whatever the sherrill conglomerate is

    How's the splice today?

@Mesquite I could be tenex as Samson makes different colors for different retailers. And Jonny beat me to it

    How's the splice today?

@flushcut Just made a few dead eyes for shits and giggles. I might splice some rings into a few dead eyes over turkey vacation. Of course that means I have to remember where I put the rings at.

    How's the splice today?

Went almost to easy. thinking that since the whip and lock stitch like to get shredded badly as someone else posted, I might just lock stitch down the taper more? Might do one more tonight yet.

    How's the splice today?

@CurSedVoyce Is that a locking brummel? From my tiny phone screen it doesn’t look like one.

    How's the splice today?

That’s what I’m hoping to figure out as well. The one I use daily is so much softer than the one I bought prespliced for my kid. Same rope different color scheme. I’m gonna do a half dozen more, keep track of my splices and have them break tested. For my own assurance.

    How's the splice today?

Do you have to pick out a longer taper for that? I saw that about larger diameter ropes as well. I’m gonna pick up some more stablebraid and practice on that some more. I think my blue moon splices look ok but seem way to stiff and definitely to hard to bury. I really want to be fluent in both...

    How's the splice today?

Yep. That is about all the little Vermeer wants. Have to be gentle even

    How's the splice today?

round two. I’m thinking the bulge just above my needle is from my cross over bunching on the final bury. Eye is a tiny bit baggy as well. That’s 2 eyes on a 25’ chunk. I should have enough to cut in in half and attempt 2 more. first one was trying to follow Nick’s video. Second was adapting...

    How's the splice today?

First attempt at blue moon. A bit less swearing than the stablebraid or 16 strand next to a professional splice

    How's the splice today?

Made myself an endless loop with a locking Brummell out of some Tech 12 I got in my bag o rope a few years ago. About a 30” loop. Has a noticeable bump at the Brummell but doesn’t require lock stitching. I’ll still put a few stitches in so it stays pretty though.

    How's the splice today?

@ruel @Jonny it’s for the spar on crane work. My last five crane jobs have had spar picks above 50”. I’ve been switching over to SRT for those but kind of a hassle since I don’t normally have a rope wrench in my bag. Could just put that in there for those days but I also had a piece of 16...

    How's the splice today?

Had an 18’ hank of tuelfelberger 16 strand. Turned into about a 12’ friction saver/ false crotch. My hands hurt Broke a wire fid on the second ring during the cross over🤬. Guess I’ll hit up Mark P for my free rebuild

    How's the splice today?

I just left it on there and used the other end for the second splice. Only a 7’ chunk of rope and it was a scrap from cutting rigging lines. I’m just playing for now. Not bad for round three. I know where I messed up here. I marked the eye a bit to tight

    How's the splice today?

Kinda agitating that the core on stablebraid is the same color as the cover. Thinking about another attempt but I also have some things I should do around the house. First I should probably clear off my work bench. That will give me room to work since I’m pretty sure the wife won’t be happy if I...
