Things that go bump in the night!

Yep, that autoimmune lottery is a bad one to win for sure. I was at the hospital today for the results of the latests blood tests and lymph node scan. Turns out the reason I'm tired all the time is not the Leukemia awakening, but simply because I'm an old man doing a young man's job. Made me...

Things that go bump in the night!

Kyle, when all this shit started, I was asked if I wanted to join a large international study of the kind of leukemia, I have ( The kind that a certain moron believes comes from being vaccinated against measles, or some such shit:lol:). Basically, " Sir, would you like to be a guinea pig...

Things that go bump in the night!

Update. The 3 fingers are still dead. I can run saws, but anything like engine repair or other stuff that demands manual dexterity is really hard. I keep dropping stuff. This morning I woke up before the alarm clock went off, so I figured, I'd turn it off so it didn't wake the mail order bride...

No feelings in the 3 first fingers. But I can run a saw :D

Missed that one, sorry. Yep, the whole bannister/ balustrade is made by me. I made the stair case, balustrade and all wooden trim around the windows upstairs out of a single elm log. Gives it a nice uniform look. The knob is elm burl, but from a different tree.

Things that go bump in the night!

Sure. They are still slightly swollen, so I can't make a fist. ( That is why that shoulder tap/death thing would have been fine) I'm getting the strenght back in them slowly and first week of August I'm sceduled for another session where they send electricity through the nerves. Then we'll see...

Things that go bump in the night!

I've started working, somewhat. Still have no feeling in my first 3 fingers on my right hand. Yesterday I ran a saw for the first time. Was dropping a small tree with a slice cut head high, to make it drop enough to slip under some power lines before falling. As I was making the cut, the saw...

Things that go bump in the night!

That is what I love about this place. Accidentally try to kill yourself and there is no mercy from anybody. Jim got the best shot in: " At least I guess vegetables are easy to puree!" I still laugh about that one.

Got the handrail mounted today. Pulled the teeth on the killer staircase

Handrail arrived today. Should make it marginally safer.

No idea. I have lost a sizeable chunk of memory from before and under the accident. From the way My wife found me, looks like face first, then flipped over as I landed. That would be consistent with where the 2 cranial fractures were, too.

    Nope, barefoot.

Things that go bump in the night!

I have ordered a handrail to put on the back wall. They said 3 days delivery time, but since I ordered it in Sweden and the border is closed due to Corona, who knows when it'll get here.

I clean forgot to take some pictures of the staircase for Jim. As you can see, not the most forgiving kind of design, all sharp metal edges and elm wood.

Burnham, I doubt anybody could get himself so messed up, just from falling out of bed.

Things that go bump in the night!

I told a good friend in California about waking up in ICU with no idea what had happened, and that my first thought was that I had crashed on the motorcycle. He said: " That would have made a better story, falling down the stairs is something old folks do".

Things that go bump in the night!

Particularly for a clumsy old fellow like myself. Gotta say, though, my usual approach has worked fine. Do as much research on the problem as possible, ask reasonably intelligent questions and the doctors will be more than happy to keep one in the loop. Getting the same story from first the...

Things that go bump in the night!

All my common sense likely ran out of my ear, along with all the blood, Stephen. Not that there was much in there to begin with  Fiona, I have my neck checked and reset by my chiropractor, it was severely out of whack. Nerve damage in my fingers should simply come from the nerve being...

Things that go bump in the night!

Time will tell. But then I've done the Phoenix thing before and risen from the ashes. So, I've not lost hope yet.

Things that go bump in the night!

Update on this shit: Looks like I got incredibly lucky with my head injuries. I went for a test and they could find nothing wrong with my old brain. But then it wasn't too good to start with, probably. They'd been worried about partial aphasia since the intercranial bleeding was situated right...
