    This is the Akimbo

I was planning to drive west through there on the way to Burnham, after visiting Dave and Jim. Just around the time when the Bear grass is blooming, which is really something. Hopefully next year.

The Rock exotica is more compact, which is nice, but on the whole they are the same. It was fun to be the only ones in the country with akimbos till the final version came out. One of the apprentices showed it at the forestry school and the teachers and students were all agog over it. I went...

You know, me telling Jaime to do the GoFundMe thing, getting behind it with a grand and the rest of the TreeHouse gang supporting it was just such a fine thing. Still makes me feel good, when I think about it.

I have 3 of the GoFundMe ones and 2 from Rock exotica. I'll gladly trade you one of the originals for a Rock Exotica model.

One of our guys came up with a good idea for tending the Akimbo. We've been clipping it into a piece of line, rope, cord whatever, worn around our neck. He uses a piece of bungee cord. Works great. Tends the Akimbo just fine and you never get the feeling of not being able to stand upright that...

Fi, check if the Akimbo moves freely when not on a rope. I just had an issue with mine, the upper part got stuck in a certain position, but only some times. A lot of WD 40 and massaging it back and forth took care of that. For now, anyway.

I should have taken a picture of one of the new ones. Too late, I've already passed them on to the guys. They are simply way better machined. Really fine craftsmanship, like we are used to from Rock Exotica. Jaime, can you maybe put up a picture of the new one next to the old ones.

It is amazing how much slicker the new Rock Exotica model is compared to the first ones out. They have taken a great tool and made it even better.

I might have told this one before. Last month we took half a day off to visit the local arborist shop. It was raining and cold, so we decided that it was better to go buy some gear and drink some free coffee. I was going to buy a new rope, and wanted to try the Akimbo on it, so I hung one of...

Just in case you don't know me well enough to tell, I was just jerking your chain. So was Burnham.

Last time I looked at mine, it appeared to be made of metal. How hard is that to clean of pitch? Try not to invent imaginary problems, the world is full of enough real ones.:P

Used to be all muscle, though. Put on about 4 pounds while I was healing up, they will disappear like dew at sunrise when we start logging 12 hour days. Man, the first week is going to make me wish I was dead:lol:

Hey, I'm a rec climber sometimes. I also climb for real once in a while, and none of us 3 have had any problems with the Akimbo. We all love it.
