We got hit by a small blizzard this week, so it'll be a long while yet, before I get started on the garden, greenhouse and polytunnel. But I have tomatoes, chilies, eggplants, beans, squash and corn sprouting like mad under my indoors artificial growing light:)

Jay, I visited a local organic grower to look at their polytunnels, she was the one who showed me the groundcover. She is completely fanatical about organic growing, so I doubt she would use something that contaminates.

The vegetarian seconds that wholeheartedly! Jay, you were complaining about all the weeding awhile back. Have you thought about using a groundcover like what I have in the tunnel. Coarsely woven polyester. Just cut an X where you want a plant to grow, no weeds anywhere and you can just...

Here is my new polytunnel. We got started too late this year, but next year I plan to utilize the space between the chili plants to grow shortlived stuff like fennel and tons of basil, which will be harvested before the chilis grow big.

Not here. We can import anything except maybe marihuanna seeds. Thanks Paul, I'll be browsing their online catalogue in a moment:)

This will be a fun year for this vegetarian. I'm already planning next years stuff. Do any of you have favourite companies where you buy your...

We are having a very cold spring, so not much is going on outside the greenhouse yet. That bodes well for my creek clearing job, nothing much to clear yet, which is fine since we are paid by the kilometer:D My big polytunnel is almost set up, so all the tomatoes, cukes and chilies can move out...

We freeze beans, too. Not to mention pesto, tomatoes, readymade spaghetti sauce etc. Nothing better in the midst of winter than grabbing a bag of frozen summer out of the freezer. Only thing I can is jalapenos. Traditional Mexican recipe with carrots , onion, garlic and fresh oregano. That is...

Concrete wire. I set a couple of steel fenceposts to hold mine. They are more than strong enough to keep the whole thing from keeling ower in a strong wind, and easy enough to pull out, come winter.

I use the same stuff for trellisses already, but I've never seen it made from so thin diameter rods that it can be bend over like that. Mine are 8mm diameter, you don't bend those at all. Great minds think alike, Stephen, I use a gasburner the same way:) Too cold for cucumbers here, outside...

I just showed those pictures to my wife. Now I'll have to make something like it:lol: That was an absolutely great idea! I can just picture the cucumbers hanging there.
