I run skip all the time, but I don't run anything shorter than a 24" except on a climbing saw. In our fat softwoods, skip does just fine and is a hell of a lot easier to maintain.

Yah mine seems like a solid runner so far. Dressed in 24".

So I had to buy a mid-size saw and the 461 was it. So far so good. Anyone else got any long-term updates?

I've no experience with those other brands. Cannon being local to the province makes it a viable option for me.

I run only cannon bars now except on the 200s(yes 200s I still have a few good runners). I'm very happy with the cannon accuracy and durability in comparison to either Stihl or Oregon.

I have a real saw shop within 15/20 min. I try to support them. They carry the full line up of Stihl and Husky with a full service department. I service my own saws though I've been dealing at this saw shop since i was 17, 21 years ago.

Lol. Now you're just messing with me Andy.

When I get bars I ask by gauge and driver link so there's no misunderstanding.

You won't be disappointed I think. At 20" that sucker will be a monster. For myself I jump from the top handle to a 460 24" bar. My personal preference.

    It's stupid alright.

I agree too. I've got both doubled in modded and stock versions. The difference in weight is negligible IMO and a 460 is way more power. I agree with Andy in the bar length too, although I still call the stihl 25" bars 24".

So no one here has run one? I'm with the original poster, my hands are brutalized. I need to invest in smoothness. But not at the loss of performance, ever hopeful a new winner will come out in this new Stihl line-up. 441 is smooth, but sucky powerwise imo.

So the 461 is available in north america? I haven't been in the saw shop for the last two weeks maybe but haven't seen one up here yet. Also anyone heard of any plans to replace any of the bigger saws with a new anti-vibe improved saw? Like the 660 or 880?
