Just saying it works is all, I've never had a problem lining it up, horizontal cut of my face first. I think the wedge straight in at the back is much simpler and more effective than boring and getting wedges in on the sides.

I hear the concerns but I'm telling ya anyone who's a decent faller won't have any issue doing it the way I described. I've done it more times than I can count, I like having the wedge straight in the back.

I'm not following you 100%. Why wouldn't/couldn't you touch your face up or re-cut it or whatever you want to do.
Many many times I've used this on smaller backleaners. Trees that are small enough that getting wedges in as you're making your back cut will be pretty much impossible before...
You called it. That's what the odd falling gig I get now is usually like. Just cream compared to the bush. The odd day or few of right of way falling is all I ever luck into now.:(
Yah, what the hell? This is the felling forum. I've been accused of things before, but not often of thinking to much. It's just kicking around some idears, shoot nothing to get your panties in a bunch over.:P
