The first couple of days with the mechanical wedge were interesting. The model I chose is not compatible with an impact driver. I did not want the extra weight of the drill and a couple of batteries, plus the units themselves are bigger. In addition they are not great on the smaller trees -...

New wedge arrived today - a bit different than the norm. We are cutting so many dying ash trees now that wedging them day in and out is becoming an issue. Twice in the last month I have had dead limbs drop on me whist driving them. Will see how it performs and report back - 20t force and over...

If your concerned about weight go for a forestry grab - much much lighter. For example; https://www.jbequipment.co.uk/products/bc160-excavator-forestry-grab-3-6-tonne

Great machine for handling material and brash. I would invest in a demolition grapple and powered rotator. Useful for feeding the chipper with

I have them littered everywhere, just makes life easier. One lives in my pocket in the woods along with a carb screwdriver. If I can’t find one the meltdown is as epic as a toddler that’s been told no for the first time 😂

Purchases are smaller scale here - just invested in a couple of the Stihl comms units a New lid to match.

It would be cool to send them a pair of pfanner air Tirol boots - time to save some pennies (just had to replace a truck unexpectedly so a little light in the pocket)

It’s a real shame they only use Hiax boots, as the last does not fit my feet well. I might have to do some searching to get a more suited pair converted

They look great Stig - did you send the boots over to be re-soled ?

Absolutely we do, but they are still seldom used compared to the US Out my way cranes have to come quite a distance, so are really expensive. I hired this in (with operator) the other week - the way forward if you can get them onsite

Stop being such a cheap skate. That’s just the baby model - you need this https://dmmprofessional.com/DMMWales/media/Documents/offya-deviant.pdf

Thanks, I will look into that. I would however be wary about increasing width, as we have stupidly narrow gateways and access to a lot of properties I already have a pile for the chipper, but I will need more I think 👍

I got the new to me loader back after welding and a service - with the grapple it’s a real brash moving machine & small enough to access most of our little gardens. I recon it will put at least an inch on my waist line if I’m not careful 🙃

This arrived yesterday, it’s an old multione that needs a little bit of welding & tlc. A much needed machine for me at the moment so it’s straight into the workshop today to make a start on it.

That was an awesome weekend Gary ! I have the smaller version of what Mick has ordered - impressive build and it punches well abover it's weight.

Smart looking trailer. The axels look a long way back compared to what I am used too- does it have a lot of nose weight when loaded ?

As Mick said, the echo really benefits from the conversion to stihl 1/4" cutting gear, which coupled with a simple muffler mod really wakes it up.

It is for rigging - will have a look at the rating tomorrow but it is a serious bit of kit. I often install it from the ground like a cambium saver - awesome time saver
