    Exercises - general conditioning

In 1995 the Chief Instructor (Grandmaster of the Bando system, a man from Burma) started formally teaching the yoga systems that are part of bando, a martial system that I have studied for years. He started with Dhanda Yoga, a system using a staff (about 6' long) to assist with the stretches. We...

    Exercises - general conditioning

The stick stretches are part of a Burmese yoga system called Dhanda Yoga. This system uses a staff (about 6' long) to assist with the stretches. It allows your body to relax into the stretches. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/osM2MjfxVVY" frameborder="0"...

10-4 on the badger...two minutes with a badger is probably a lifetime of workouts in one. That full routine can be done in probably 6-7 minutes, with good effect. It can be a bit taxing at first but once your body learns you are not trying to kill it the stretches are good...it's a...

Supposedly for all ages...have only used them twice but I see where they could be very effective. Pavel introduced them to the USA...here is a newsletter about "boomers" and k-bells; http://idevmail.americaneagle.com/message.aspx?d=309&m=544&e=pantheraba@aol.com&r=156306&f=HTML

I suspect the daily pull ups and push ups are some of the most long-term beneficial work you do...good way to roll.

1:15 2:00 3:17 4:05 4:28 4:40....but who's counting? ;) I didn't like kata for a long time...early on I preferred sparring, more action oriented things. When I started thinking of kata as a library of techniques and principles that could be applied to situations that were not part...

    Exercises - general conditioning

Cory asked in another thread what I did outside of treework to stay in shape...be careful what you ask!! I've been involved in a martial art system (Bando, a system from Burma) since the mid-70's. A typical workout at the class in the 70's and 80's was 45 min. of warmups, stretching and...

Re: padding...I realize now you mean on the floor...good point. I haven't had anyone else try the upside down thing yet (and don't encourage it at all). I watch folks when they climb the rope and will discourage any upside down stuff as best as I can.

Nah, the owner is a young guy, maybe mid-late twenties and he is cool with it...in fact, he asked me to start bringing the rope in again. I had it permanently installed a few years ago and left it all the time. I took my harness and got properly safetied in, padded the metal trusses with HD...

Second is Roman chair exercises...I think this is the kind of chair Frans was talking about in another thread: The last exercise facing the backrest is a shoulder exercise, working to get the spine horizontal..it will be awhile. :) Time for somebody else to post their exercises. <object...

    Exercises - general conditioning

Your best bet might be pulling on the spear gun bands. Or get a rubber band made for exercising...at the 2:00 minute mark this guy has some good pulling shoulder/back exercises. This kind of band would work well. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie"...

Just NOT too soon and not too much. You'll need mild stretching as the tendon heals but gentle.

    Exercises - general conditioning

Googled to be safe...... plateaued. I'd say it would depend on your goals. Unless you are training for a long race I think you have the running thing down great. I'm of the opinion that for lots of folks running as a sole primary fitness activity is risky. It is generally considered to be...

    Exercises - general conditioning

Hahaha...in that vein I'll post this one. I use whatever is available to vary the workout...the poles in the gym are useful for climbing. I start with an achilles tendon stretch (Che!!!) and then hang/stretch a little before starting a slow, controlled climb, up and down. I transit between...

    Exercises - general conditioning

There has been a thread running called "Abdominal exercises". I will start this thread that is more general. I figure it will be where folks can post/discuss exercises, drills, etc. that are part of their personal workout. I posted a short video of some ab exercises in the other thread. Here...
