WOW.
I hadn't thought about that... Wind resistance seems like it could effect the roll of a top, however this one looks like it starts turning very early before there is enough speed for wind resistance to be much of a factor. I definitely effects the way the limbs fall, making the tips float...
Me too..
I need to get out and see more of the world... I'll keep it on the bucket list and be happy to pay my own ticket when the time comes...
Appreciate the info... more of a curiosity though as you rightly say its a much different world than residential arb work.
Rolling seems like a...
was he trying to turn or roll the tre by leaving that chunk in the right side of the face cut??? Always hard to tell from video if the tree actually turned
I too kill ash trees without remorse these days... cried the day I heard eab had jumped the susquehanna river. I have met some amazing ash trees.. now there is a job to do so keep the saws sharp...
Appreciate the friendly response....
OK Stig,
I really appreciate the offer, which I respectfully decline... That's the first time anyone ever invited me to Denmark... You're right ... too fat, old and tired to dance in the woods for a week. Probably wouldn't make it to lunch day 1.... that said, even if I could I wouldn't ...
Maybe Stig could add "logging camp" to this list of 11 unusual places to stay in Denmark.. Wake up to the sound of chainsaws screaming as the ground shakes with every fallen tree...

Ya butch like the time Jerry B thought the plunge cut was just for show, or Burnham criticized my cuts for lack of stump shot, until I explained to everyone here that stumpshot is not needed in most suburban falling situations. The discussion on Near balance point rigging might have been more at...
I've had to explain things to people here year after year.... . Everybody thought I was reckless or lucky for about three years.... Why ... Cause they had never seen anything like it.. posted videos of things most didn't even think were possible.. Pulling over heavy backleaners, jump cuts...
You had plenty off the sides... no need to cut more... what you call it whittling away was needless fooling around.. NO WAY was that tree going to BBC after that much off the sides.. You started your whittle by drawing the tip down the apex of the notch with the bar at only a slight angle to the...
While I appreciate your explanation of the concern about center rot, What did you think a tree with that heavy front lean was going to do when plunged in on the compression side?????
Maybe when you cut another 250,000 trees you'll figure out that the plunge should have started towards the back...
Your modified coos bay was a lot of fooling around. Looks like close to 5 minutes on that tree, only to crush the bar and get stuck holding the saw at the stump with a ton of fiber pull.. I'd be very surprised if that bar didn't get damaged with all the weight of that tree on it.. That vid looks...
