I don't know if it would dull it badly, but it'll dull it. It should make it a little more robust though, and less likely to knock out chunks. You're trading peak performance for longevity.
Probably to make it as generic as possible. Clearly enunciated, with an even cadence, so it can be easily understood, even by people that may not be native speakers.
Yea, but all the electronic stuff makes it difficult. With an old VW, a back country hack could keep the whole thing going. Kind of hard with vehicles today. The elegant simplicity of aircooled Vdubs was something else. You could do most of what you needed with the lugwrench and reversible...
That was a great book. Best auto repair book I've ever used. Clear, and concise hand drawn pictures, and practical methods of accomplishing a task, if not 'factory approved'.
