Nice, I had an 84 GMC Sierra... I specifically wanted a 87 or older for the straight front axle.

My 06 F250 has 24-27 useable gallons in the main tank. I have a 1600 mile range with the the extra 100 gallons in the back.

Goosenecks are way more polite than tag trailers, Ed. Just like 5th wheel/semi trucks. If you load it too heavy on the trailer axles, the side effect is less traction on the drive axle. That can still lead to all manner of trouble, but the wagging tendency rear-heavy tag trailers have is...

40klbs Gross Combined Weight Rating, truck and trailer. The trailer and equipment is around 34klbs.

The 2015's are back to the 19.5" wheels. A 20 ton tag? Holy moly, that would be cumbersome. 3 15klb axles would get you there with with ~4-5k on the tongue, but I sure wouldn't want to pull it with a F450. A gooseneck would handle the weight a lot better, but still, a 24-25 ton trailer...

Yeah, price tag is $59-73k. With that GCWR and power I should be able to haul my excavator and track loader together. It'll be over weight according to the specs (doesn't matter much on a commercial vehicle) by 10% or so, and buying a 45-50klb tag will suck, but only having one...

Towing a gooseneck/5th wheel with that truck would likely require a tall riser on the neck of the trailer. The 2015 F450 pickup has 440hp, 860ft lbs of torque with a 40klb GCWR. The 2011-2015 F550 cab and chassis are limited to 33klb GCWR, and 300hp.

I'm contemplating another truck, as it looks like my F550 is sold. At the moment I'm thinking a 2011+ F550, or perhaps a 2015 F450 pickup to replace my F250 and F550... I dunno. Either way, I'll likely be using the F250 by itself for some period of time.

I just saw it was an auto... I don't have much confidence in the 4 speed autos. The 5 speeds autos are pretty bomber... I've grossed 30.1k in my F250, a smidgen over 40k in my F550. So, based on that, I wouldn't buy that truck. I would find a manual, or a 5/6 speed auto. Don't be afraid to...

Body work and paint costs money, the more you pay the better of a job you get. My neighbor had been after me to let him do some body/paint work. He can do excellent works, paints airplanes for a living and is into hot rods and the like. His own jobs are quite mint from what I've seen...

It's big and cumbersome, not to mention maintenance would be a way of life with it I would think. Got new shoes on the 550 today. Guess I'll have to get on fitting the fenders or putting a bed on it now.

6.0's didn't come with a dpf. They do have an egr cooler, however it's the oil cooler that plugs. Use a scanner to monitor the temp spread between coolant and oil temps to determine when to change the oil cooler. 15* spread is considered the limit.

I use the heck out of my 550's 4 wd, but I'm dragging a big dump trailer through hell and high water at the dump. Ordered 4 tires today for it, you can nearly see the air in the tires that are on it.

With the ability to wrap sections of the vehicle no problem, I certainly wouldn't paint information on a work vehicle.

Clean and it's an 05-07 so it has the coil spring front end with its better ride and much sharper turning radius! Is it a 450 or 550? Looks like a 7' CA/11' frame, same as my 550. My 550 turns almost as sharp as my Civic, way better than my 2000 F550.
