Is beech bark disease a thing there? We've had it for a few years. Seems to be really isolated in little pockets.

I've wondered that too. They look aggressive for the size though... When we were in Australia it was the other way, a small chipper there is a 15" and most crews I saw running around had 20"+ I believe the law there is that the tow vehicle must be at least the same weight as the trailer, and...

Tall, lightning struck Tulip Poplar from yesterday. Had a pull rope in it but those triple taper wedges lifted the spar off pretty good. No need to stack, but not near the power of a finer taper.

It's crazy how quickly beech turns from super strong to giant breadstick in no time once they die.

Wouldn't have done it on a windy day. I was very glad to get the crane in although it was a pretty tight setup even by our standards. Yes about 28"dbh but maybe 16x6" at the narrowest with everything pretty far over center.

Plugging away on this big red oak. Mini ex down in the hole, 28t boom truck on the driveway up on top of the retaining wall to get everything out to the road. Took out 16-18t of wood today and 15 yds of chips. Still have the big part of the stem and a bit more brush for tomorrow.
