I've got a month or better of typing before my grinder is in, so that give me lots of typing time.

Thanks guys! I'm super excited. It's been fun shopping but I'm ready to be done with it and get to making money with it. I really think the thing that pushed it in Vermeers favor is the service. They have gone above and beyond for us more than once. The salesman really went to bad for us with...

Once again an impressive demo.... And it looks like the Vermeer 362 is going to be our next grinder. Same engine as the Rayco and pretty much the same performance. Rayco had some nicer options with the blade and the swing out controls but Vermeer came in with a very good price, weighed 500 lbs...

Today we tried a Rayco RG40. Wow, that machine was heads and shoulders above the Bandit and Morbark! I liked just about everything about it, including the backfill blade..... Which I thought would not be very useful. I also realized liked the way the controls swing out and will operate at any...

We've looked used and called on a couple but nothing had panned out. But, yes we would definitely consider used if the right one for us came up.

The grinder that I tried was the 2550 with a 35 hp Vanguard engine. I'm not a mechanic or engineer, but it seemed to have substantially less power than the Morbark which had a 38 hp Kohler gas engine. The Bandit had the newer Revolution wheel so that might have factored into the poor performance...

I want gas, so no to the 372. We've had too many problems with diesel and have phased all diesels out.

We quote $5 per inch over the phone or for jobs that are only stumps. Even for those we usually are at $75 min. Generally speaking stump grinding is not a huge money maker, it's just a service that we have to offer. People around here want one contractor to complete the entire job. Subbing...

    Search for a new grinder

So here's thing.... Our max budget is $30k....not $35k. I actually do know what's best for my company and that's getting a new, reliable stump grinder. I know that loaders are great and all but I don't do repairs. I pay for repairs. And I'm my opinion I will not find a reliable loader and...

I appreciate the input but we're going to stick with the plan for now. Believe me, we've been around and around about this and we feel this is the right choice for us at this time.

If I remember correctly, the Bandit guy told me that the diesel would add almost $10k. The grinder that we tried was $28k already. Plus we don't really want diesel anyway.

I am interested in Rayco but they won't reply to my emails. In my mind, I always think of Carlton and Rayco as the two top stumper manufacturers.

I think you and I are definitely in the same boat. There are two main issues driving our purchasing decision. We want dependable/reliable equipment and our budget is probably up to about $30k. Imo that puts a loader and grinder attachment out of range. But we can buy a new grinder that will last...

    Search for a new grinder

I'm starting a new thread to focus on getting a new grinder. As some of our know I am in the market for a new stump grinder in the 35-40hp range. So far we have tried a Morbark and Bandit and have not been impressed with either. I have a Vermeer demo set up for next week and am in talks with...
