The grinder that I tried was the 2550 with a 35 hp Vanguard engine. I'm not a mechanic or engineer, but it seemed to have substantially less power than the Morbark which had a 38 hp Kohler gas engine. The Bandit had the newer Revolution wheel so that might have factored into the poor performance...

I want gas, so no to the 372. We've had too many problems with diesel and have phased all diesels out.

We quote $5 per inch over the phone or for jobs that are only stumps. Even for those we usually are at $75 min. Generally speaking stump grinding is not a huge money maker, it's just a service that we have to offer. People around here want one contractor to complete the entire job. Subbing...

If I remember correctly, the Bandit guy told me that the diesel would add almost $10k. The grinder that we tried was $28k already. Plus we don't really want diesel anyway.

I am interested in Rayco but they won't reply to my emails. In my mind, I always think of Carlton and Rayco as the two top stumper manufacturers.

I think you and I are definitely in the same boat. There are two main issues driving our purchasing decision. We want dependable/reliable equipment and our budget is probably up to about $30k. Imo that puts a loader and grinder attachment out of range. But we can buy a new grinder that will last...
