B, cool info, thanks.
Husabud, thankyou for the link. I'm leaning toward a new BB, their owners speak highly of them and I'll have some dealer support, there are no carlton dealers around here.
Over 18" would of course be nice on many a job but I feel like 18" is a good size that gives you a lot of capability without towing too huge a machine around. I agree, the over/under 10k lbs is basically irrelevant because even if you get a chipper that is a tad under 10k, you still need a CDL...
B, what do you think of Harlan's morbark 18" compared to BB. How many hps in his??
Yes, I have to agree with Chris too, at least for me. I'm a tree cutter not a mechanic so I can't afford to set myself up where I'll need to do wrenching. And good mechanics around here are nearly nonexistent
Good comments, thx.
Ranger, yes, JD has been good to me to, in my model 17
Paul, I googled conehead and can't find anyone that sells them new, just random used ones. Are they still manufactured??
That's good stuff, McCauley. By all means post the vids if it isn't too much trouble
Fred do you like your 18''? You are lucky about that law. CT is rule-happy.
Definetly. Although some folks claim that the new law says that the truck and chipper combination together if it weighs more than 26k, you need a cdl. Not sure I believe that though.
Yes, the 1590 only has a 40 gal tank so there musta been a lot of chipping going on. Like 16 truckloads of chips in 2 days, based on a 20cubic yard truck.
Its interesting they went back to a single feed wheel. My 17 was great but somehow I think 2 feed wheels is going to give you more feeding power. What chipper do you have FJR?
My first chipper was a bandit model 100, eons ago, it was good. Next was a morbark model 17 with the single top feed wheel. Real good chipper. Now I have a Morbark Hurricaine 18" chipper with top and bottom feed wheels and huge indeed tray dimensions which is good for feeding large bushy brush...
