Crazy story developing on the Buzz

ha, I am! The gmk with tight turning radius and small setup space due to counter weight seems like quite the custom tree killing machine. And I thought that the computer controlled suspension was a driveway saver. But given the NE nickname maybe the boom trucks and truck cranes aren't so far...

From their website, yeah they look pretty huge and well equipped, including large mechanized land clearing. But for residential tree removal, big trees with bad access, I gotta go with Mayer and their 2 or 3 GMKs and the 115t. Just preposterous line up of kick ass tree equipment. What is with...

I mean who has more oomph than Mayer, more ability to blow out giant jobs with ease. That definetly is not Asplunk, afaik. Does Northern run big cranes?

I don't own one but I don't think there is a lot of maint. required to keep them running properly, lotta grease I'm sure. And no doubt every job they use the crane on doesn't necessarily require one, but if you have it you are going to use it to save time/effort,

Are Northeast, Mayer, and Marquis the 3 biggest, in terms of quality of equipment and production? Mayer is equipped like no other that I know of, Marquis nicely equipped, and Northeast has a GMK3055 I believe. Are the others well equipped too or are they lesser? It's like an arms race!

I don't have a problem with a signaler at all, but if he isn't in sight of both parties without having to move from one to the other, that is bad.

So the climber must have been dead or mortally injured before he hit the ground

Crazy story developing on the Buzz

Brutal. By "runner" do you mean the signal- relaying guy was not in full sight of both the climber and the op at all times, he had to move from one to the other to relay the signal? If so, that is a recipe for disaster even before this accident. What a scary way to go.

My op weighs 400 lbs, he might be opening his lunch crate. Pigwot, walking to check every pick?? That's attentive!!

I totally agree. The best op I work with never takes his eyes off the climber, or at least whenever I need something done with the hook etc, he's always ready, virtually never have to wait or get his attention.
