But as Jay points out, a high level of caution is appropriate when working near high value targets like houses, so in these cases, isn't checking the opposite side of hinge OK when setting up the hinge on a plunge cut?     Why check the gun at :50? As soon as you start the cut when cutting the diagonal top cut first, you are committed, no aiming adjustability in the cut.
